3.30.05 Averting Disaster The wisdom of the leaders
Being the stupid poor old John Doe Dimslow that I am, I feel more fortunate than I can possibly say to have such smart leaders as we do in this country. I mean, if we didn't have such smart, big-hearted leaders, if policies and politics were left up to short-sighted lame-brains like myself, there's no telling what kind of problems we would have brought down on so many of our little old heads. Probably we would do things like put soldiers all over the world and start wars that kill tens of thousands of people, and use up the environment until it threatens to collapse, and build strip malls all across the U.S., and allow the spread of poverty and children in poverty, and create expensive health care, and expensive housing and food and transportation and fuel and energy costs. There's no telling what else John Doe Dimslows like myself would mess up if our values, views and thoughts were ever truly given play.
No doubt I should get down on my knees and give thanks to our leaders on high for protecting us from all this damage. Save us from ourselves, O leaders! and thank you. Thank you, so very much. Where would we be - I can't help but tremble in wonder - where would we ever be without you?
