4.14.05 Article 3 And the right to know
Working our way through the articles in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, I, John Doe Dimslow, arrive at Article 3 - short and sweet - "Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person."
Hear that, Uncle Sammy? "Everyone." "Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person."
Yes, well, tell that to the people in Abu Ghraib.
Tell that to the people on Death Row.
Tell that to the uninsured.
Tell that to the myriad uncounted victims of U.S. aggression.
Tell that to George Bush, Bill Clinton, etc....
Tell that to Osama bin Laden.
Tell that to all the Osama bin Ladens that the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq is currently creating.
Tell that to the U.S. public, and to people around the world.
"Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person."
Why don't schoolchildren memorize these rights by heart? Why are they not asked to? Why do they probably not even know that these rights - their rights - exist?
John Doe Dimslow would like to know....
He demands it. He demands to know.
He has the right. Legal and otherwise.
He has the right. As do we all.
John Doe Dimslow demands to know.
He demands that right for his kin, his kind, and all.
He demands that right, and more.
